Looked on the site for ideas, tempted by Splinter Cell Chaos but has the same rating as CSGO which doesn't inspire confidence. Splinter Cell Conviction just wouldn't load (that hurt, I loved that game/series - also seems to be a known problem). All my Half Life 2s I guess are keyboard only so those are out. Tried CSGO, controller doesn't seem to work (jerks around and was unusable, some drift that I tried fixing but didn't take hold in the game, known problems). Use Lutris to open Steam to open Proton? If there's a dummy's guide out there on setting up a playing environment I'm all eyes but when I asked for that it got downvoted so.there's that. I'm willing to toss my library and buy something new if it means just playing a game instead of debugging it.

Not all of this is Linux fault, I ran into some issues on my old build when an update borked some issues, gave up and was hoping a new platform might have fixed some stuff. Spent most of yesterday trying to play *a* game from my Steam library. Two monitors + TV (need to play full screen on the TV from the couch) Heres some info about my system in case you might need I found a discussion on steam about someone having this issue, they disabled Shader Pre-Caching and that worked for then. I've found some people that suggest using the command "sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=1048576" in the terminal. I have proton battle eye runtime installed too. I also have set my game to force the use of Proton Experimental. I have tried opting into a steam beta program. I have read online of other people experiencing this problem some of them even on windows. I dont use the launcher for DayZ as it gives me this weird error message each time. However each time i launch the game it doesnt load anything and just hangs on a black screen. So recently i have been trying to play DayZ.
